In the field of HR, recruiter workload is a long-standing topic of debate. In fact, determining the optimal recruiter workload is a high stakes task. The greater the volume of work each recruiter handles, the fewer recruiters an organization needs. Fewer recruiters is an attractive proposition with personnel costs taking up a majority of the typical talent acquisition budget. Yet when an organization has too few recruiters, who reach the point of overload, the negative consequences are significant. The quality of the candidate experience and the level of support provided to hiring managers suffers. Positions take longer to fill and are more likely to be filled with sub-par candidates.
