Many organizations want to enhance their knowledge management (KM) capabilities and embed knowledge-sharing behaviors, but don’t know where to start. This article, derived from APQC Executive Director Cindy Hubert’s keynote at APQC's 2011 KM conference, suggests focusing on three principal drivers of KM success:

  1. a well-defined business case that outlines how knowledge will be used to help your organization achieve its strategic objectives,
  2. a value path measurement system that links KM participation to business outcomes, and
  3. an effective change mastery strategy that makes KM seem fun and encourages employee engagement.
